COMMISsIOn
a
Painting

A commission offers the opportunity to develop a painting around a subject that matters to you.

Whether inspired by a place, a person or an object, every commission is approached as an original painting rather than a reproduction.

The information below explains how the process works, what you can expect and how to begin.

How Commissions Work

Every commission is different, but the process follows the same general stages.

Beginning with a conversation allows us to establish the subject, scale, intention and practical requirements before any painting begins.

Throughout the process, you'll receive updates at key stages so you always know how the work is progressing.

The Process

1

Initial Conversation

Every commission begins with a conversation.

We'll discuss your ideas, the subject, preferred size, location, intended setting and any reference material that may help establish the direction of the painting.

This conversation helps determine whether the project is a good fit for both of us before any work begins.

2

Proposal & Quote

Once we've discussed the commission, you'll receive a written proposal outlining the scope of the project together with a detailed quotation.

This includes the agreed dimensions, medium, estimated completion time, framing requirements (if applicable) and delivery arrangements.

The quotation is provided without obligation.

3

Painting

Once the commission is confirmed, work begins.

Rather than copying a photograph, the painting develops through observation, drawing, colour and composition.

As the work progresses, you'll receive occasional updates so you can follow the painting as it takes shape while still allowing room for the creative process.

4

Completion & Delivery

Once the painting is complete, final photographs will be shared for approval before delivery is arranged.

The finished work can be collected locally or carefully packaged and shipped nationally or internationally.

pricing

Every commission is individually priced.

The final cost depends on factors such as the size of the painting, the medium, the complexity of the composition, the support (canvas or board), framing requirements and shipping.

Once we've discussed your idea, I'll provide a detailed quotation before any work begins.

A commission quote is provided without obligation.
